Kill Refurb Marry: Disney Sidekicks

Hey howdy hey!

Thanks for joining along on another Kill Refurb Marry, hosted by the lovely ladies Estelle and Melissa at This Happy Place and Mouse on the Mind, respectively.

Without further ado, let's dive right in, shall we?

It was hard to find a Disney sidekick I really despised, so I'm gonna go with Abu from Aladdin.

Why? Because he's a monkey, and *bleck* do I hate monkeys. They're pretty gross and creepy.

Need more reasons? Words used in the Abu- Disney Wiki article describe him as 'sneaky,' 'selfish,' a 'thief,' and 'scheming.' Sure, they also say he's loyal and trustworthy too, but he's still a monkey, and in my book, that makes him as good as dead. Bye, Felicia!

Runner-up would be Tinker Bell, for reasons which Falon from A Disney Mom so expertly argued. Bottom line- she's a selfish jealous bitch (Tinker Bell, not Falon!). But really, click to read Falon's reasoning- she puts it much better than I do.

This was a bit tricky too because to change a character is to change their personality, and their personality is what makes them, well, them. Pretty eloquent, eh?

Anyway, if I could improve upon a Disney sidekick, I guess I'd choose Tigger

I love him. My childhood cat was named Tigger. He's bouncy, confident and optimistic.

He's also impulsive and often causes more trouble than good. I know his intentions are true, but sometimes, I just wanna shake him and say, "Damn it, man, didn't you know your invention would decimate Rabbit's garden, destroy Piglet's house, and cause a swarm of bees to attack Pooh?!"

Plus, the way he bounces up on everyone, and the whole 'woe is me' attitude when his frustrated friends finally tell him off, is kind of annoying.

Runner-up would be Flora, Fauna and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty because of their ineptness at keeping Aurora safe, but I already knocked on Maleficant in the last KRM, so I'll lay off this time.

Baloo is the best. He's sweet, easy going, and teaches Mowgli how to let loose and have a little fun.

He sings one of my all-time favorite Disney songs, "The Bare Necessities," and is voiced by Phil Harris who also voiced a few other enjoyable Disney characters such as Thomas O'Malley from The Aristocats and Little John in Robin Hood. Plus, the bear's got rhythm.

Runner-up would be Jiminy Cricket. He's great.

So, that's that. What are your thoughts on Disney sidekicks? Why don't you play along and link up here.

  1. I would definitely marry Baloo. Great picks. I'm going to have to really think about this! Lefou is adorable, but he deserves a refurb. Poor guy getting walked on by Gaston all the time. He needs a little back bone. If we're killing off a sidekick... dang that's so harsh. I don't really want to kill off any of them. I would marry Lumiere. Best sidekick in the book. He's so hot. ;)

    1. Thanks for playing along! Lefou really does need to grow a pair; in fact, Estelle picked him to Refurb, and has some really good reasons to do so. And I know, the whole 'killing off' thing is harsh!
And it looks like your hubby should get you a fancy candlestick for your next anniversary- really spice things us, it seems! ;)

  2. I agree on a lot of your runner up choices particularly. I refurbed Tink but could easily have killed her. And Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather have a few issues that could be fixed!

    1. Yeah, what is it with Tink? I think the whole jealousy thing really turns me off about her- so the opposite of 'girl power!' Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. Thanks for the shout out, Ashley! And I love your choices. Baloo is a good marry, being all soft and cuddly and hilarious.
